Assignment 2

3/26/04

Lots of stuff to look at this week, but it will give you a better idea of where you are going as you develop your WebQuest. A copy of the Article Critique has also been posted under Resources.

Chapter 2 Identifying Curriculum Goals

Read this chapter to learn the process for identifying curriculum goals. Complete a Worksheet for Recording Ideas for Curriculum Plan (worksheet available at curriculumwebs.com).

Building Blocks of a WebQuest

http://projects.edtech.sandi.net/staffdev/buildingblocks/p-index.htm In addition to a home/index page, you will create introduction, task, process/script, learners, evaluation, conclusion, and credit pages. Access the above referenced webpage by Bernie Dodge to learn more about putting a WebQuest together.

WebQuest Design Patterns

http://webquest.sdsu.edu/designpatterns/all.htm Bernie Dodge has compiled a list of patterns derived from existing WebQuests that are instructionally solid. To qualify as a design pattern, the lesson should be easily modified to cover different content while using the same basic structure. Each pattern is distinct from the others in terms of the kinds of content it can be used for, and the organization of the Introduction, Task, Process and Evaluation sections. With templates that are specific to each design pattern, it should be easier to hit the ground running when starting to create a new WebQuest.

Digital Images

Begin to capture digital images of you, your classroom, learners, colleagues, etc. for your home/index page.

WebQuest Design Process

http://webquest.sdsu.edu/designsteps/index.html Bernie Dodge has provided a great flow chart outlining the steps in designing a WebQuest.

A Rubric for Evaluating WebQuests

http://webquest.sdsu.edu/webquestrubric.html This is the rubric I will be using to evaluate your WebQuest.

All of you should have received notice of your Tech Email. Note that when you check it on Tech's webpage, www.latech.edu, you do not need to add the latech.edu extension, i.e., ctt007@latech.edu. You will not add the extension when you use the following address to post your webpages either: ftp://ctt007@beta.latech.edu for example. Once you access this site, you will need to create a folder called public_html to put all of your web files in. Finally, to check and see if they are accessible on the web, you would go to your web address, www.latech.edu/~ctt007 (for example). Try this out within the next few days and let me know if you encounter any problems. Dr. Basinger
